One of the great things that came out of my participation in this TV show, was a R1000 Mr Price Home gift voucher - as they were headline sponsors. I was ridiculously excited about this - with less than 5 months to go until Our Wedding, I am firmly in my 'nesting' period and am determined to have a beautiful home. We were thrilled with what we managed to get for R1000 - it went a lot further than we expected, and that doesn't happen often these days.
I'd like to share the items we bought, and a little of my inspiration for using them in our future home. The general feel I'm trying to achieve is personal with mostly classic blues and white and a few touches of accent colour.
PS I'm SUPER excited about this, so I hope you'll share a little of that with me.
Bamboo Tray
 |
| Bamboo tray R129.99 (with two mini glass vases - R19.99 each) |
This was the first and only item on my list. I'm a little obsessed with having one in our home - it will sit on our coffee table in the lounge, and hold our cactus (called Churchill) and a few coffee table books.
I love how it can hold an assortment of items, but still look "put together" and tidy - I'm a little bit of a neat freak and fairly anti-clutter, so this is rather important for me. Also, how brilliant would it be to serve the perfect cup of Earl Grey tea and biscuits? Ah, the glowing future of a simple bamboo tray.
Glass "Fish" Bowl
 |
| "Fishbowl" - R59.99 |
To either be used for a little friendly fish, or a gorgeous flower arrangement. I'd love both in my home, so perhaps I'll need to buy another one...
White Photo Frame
Or, "the start of a collection". I think a home feels empty with nothing on the walls, so this is the humble start of a collection. Simple, understated frames that allow the photographs to be the centre of attention.

Luxury Textured Bath Mat
When we saw this, we both fell a little in love. Me, with the colour, and Luke with the texture - of course he had to take off his shoes and stand on it to make sure it was soft and fluffy enough. It passed the test - the love remains.
 |
| Chunky bath mat - R69.99 |
A little classic / retro love for our toothbrushes and toothpaste - I lived in France for a year, so the little touch of French was also a lovely addition.

| Toothbrush holder - R39.99 |
Adore this woven basket! Either to be used in the image above (with the wall of photo frames) to store scarves etc in the entrance, or in the bathroom image below - for storing loo rolls, rolled hand towels - I see it being a well-loved addition to our home.

Love this bathroom - with the exposed shelving, baskets and neatly stacked towels (would remove the printed mat however) from here |
Matte Side Plates and Bowls

There really isn't any external inspiration needed for these - they are gorgeous, matte and the perfect contrast items - my "normal" crockery set is white porcelain, so I think these would be lovely to mix and match. Not to mention the amazing shape of the bowls - deep and wide - perfect for desserts, breakfast, soup, pasta, salads...and at R9.99 each, there is really no excuse not to add a few to your kitchen.
While we're 'in the kitchen' we picked up a few other goodies :
 |
| A fairly practical grater (R39.99) and timer (R19.99) |
 |
Heart fridge magnets (if you can't have love on your fridge, then where can you?) R25.99 |
 |
Pestle and Mortar - on sale at R39.99 - and the perfect match to our bathmat, if we ever decide to make pesto in the bathroom |
Small Chrome Lamps
 |
| Small chrome 'desk' lamps - R99.99 each |
Lastly, what the world calls 'desk lamps' are what we call bedside lamps. I don't want our bedroom (or home, for that matter) to look too girly, which is partly why we decided on the neutral and classic colour scheme of blue and white. Somehow the idea of a lampshade next to your bed sounds too feminine - and I wouldn't like Luke to have to live through that. These lamps seem like the perfect solution - great light for reading, clean and simple - and matching. I love symmetry.
So, we've reached the end of my first 'decor' post - apologies that was a little long, but I had so much to share with you. I would love to hear your thoughts!
Note : While I received a R1000 gift voucher for Mr Price home, I was neither asked to write a blog post on them, nor compensated for anyway for doing so.
Gorgeous goodies for a gorgeous home... I'm really surprised at how reasonable the prices are! I can see myself visiting Mr Price Home sometime soon... without kids!
