| Chocolate chip chocolate cookies, with chocolate drizzle for good measure |
Anne is a French - Canadian, living in Ontario, with her husband and two boys. When I had to decide which recipe of hers to choose, I was torn between making the delicious sounding coconut chicken curry, or the fantastic combination of peanut butter popcorn, but in the end her double chocolate cookies won. I realised that I've made normal choc-chip cookies before, but I just couldn't resist the allure of the extra chocolatey-ness. As these are already double-chocolate, I thought that drizzling them with extra chocolate afterwards would just add to the experience of a chocolate coma. (Please, please do this!)
These cookies are crisp and crunchy on the outside, and a little soft and chewy in the centre. The lovely man isn't the world's biggest biscuit lover, but these had him swooning. If that's not incentive to make them, I don't know what is...

Makes 18
Ingredients:
120 g butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
200g chocolate, broken into rough chunks
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
200g chocolate, broken into rough chunks
100g melted chocolate for drizzling, if wanted
Method:
Cream butter and sugars together in a largish bowl - add the egg and the vanilla. Mix together flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add these dry ingredients to the wet. Stir in chocolate chips and drop by spoonful onto a non-stick baking sheet. Bake at 180 degrees C for 12 minutes, or only until middle of the cookie is set. Remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
Drizzle the cooled cookies with melted chocolate, and have a cup of coffee ready to dunk.
